About

She told me to write down anything I might say during the proposal. But she didn't say how...

Hey, I am Alex Fall. As of writing this, I am the boyfriend of Danielle Nelson. However, since you are reading this, it’s safe to assume I am now the fiance of Danielle Nelson! Welcome to my way of making a proposal special.

What Inspired the Website?

I was thinking through how an engineer could do something special with a proposal. I thought of making a website. As I thought it through, I realized there were countless reasons this was a perfect idea. Here are some of the most exciting reasons!

  • It would allow me to reflect on our relationship and put aside lingering doubts.
  • Making this was a good balance between being a hopeless romantic and fitting who I am.
  • It is a perfect way of writing down what I’d say during the proposal, as she had asked me to do.
  • A website is re-visitable and so accessible. We can open it and relive this stage of our relationship.
  • It can be added to. I love the idea of updating and adding pages together after she says “Yes”!
  • It’s a more engaging way of sharing the moment with others. Glad you’re here!
  • It seemed like a great way to make up for my social media aversion.
  • More than that, it serves as a public proclamation of my love and commitment to her.
  • It calls back to her blogging days. Check them out!

I’d recommend heading to Will You? first. It links to most of the other pages.

The Making of the Site

This post on The Making of the Site gets a bit detailed; I won’t be offended if you skip it. I wanted to share everything I went through while making this website. I had to keep so much of it secret and this page served as an outlet.

Did She Know?

Pretty sure she didn’t know what I was making. I did have to cover my tracks by bending the truth a bit. I told her I was making a personal portfolio/blog to replace an old one, get some experience, and prepare for a new job in case I get laid off in my company’s acquisition. I also took a lot of time off to work on the website. I let her think I still had work those days; I was working, just not for my job.
